The Four Seasons of Weddings

When it comes to weddings, there are no set-in-stone rules about where, when, or how you choose to get married. Some prefer more traditional ceremonies while others choose excursions, destination weddings, or some simply elope. But no matter the ceremony style—the season of the year you choose for your wedding will play a big role in determining the other factors leading up to your special day.

In this blog, we’ll discuss the pros and cons of each season of weddings and the detailed planning that goes into each one! Enjoy!

Fall Weddings

Autumn Color Palettes

Fall weddings are definitely a fan favorite with turning autumn leaves, cooler weather, and endless options for indoor and outdoor venues. Choosing a wedding date from late September through the month of November will give you the magic of crisp air and autumn color palettes of burgundies, dark purples, rusty reds, apricot oranges, yellows, harvest browns, and deep greens. You can really go with any color you choose—but staying in an autumn color palette means sticking with warm and neutral tones of any shade.

Traditions and Fall Trends

A big fall wedding trend is using dried wheat or pampas grass as a bridal bouquet or in wedding decor. Velvet is also a new wedding trend that we are just loving these days. Add velvet to any fall or winter wedding from bridesmaids dresses to velvet ribbon on the dinner menus. It’s a small touch that makes a big difference. Outdoor, rustic weddings are also a top fall wedding trend that is not going anywhere soon—and the fall season is the perfect time to do it while the weather is just right!

Winter Weddings

Winter Color Palettes

When you think of winter weddings—think deep, dark velvets or satins made of emerald greens, deep merlot reds, and rich jewel tones. Prefer neutrals? Go with a muted color pallet of slate-gray, dusty blue, or beige. Try to stay in the cooler color tone pallet if you go on the lighter end—but have fun with it!

Traditions and Winter Trends

We love a good winter wedding because there is no shortage of romance from the twinkling holiday lights to the soft, falling natural snow. From December through February, you can add a hot cocoa bar, faux fur coat for the bride, a champagne tower, or tall, tapered candles with towering candelabras to make any winter event feel regal. Pair it all with a beautiful winter garland or floral arrangements made of white or deep red roses, gardenias, ranunculus, cranberries, or pine.

Spring Weddings

Spring Color Palettes

When planning a spring wedding, the options are truly endless. From blues to pinks, purples to oranges, and whites to yellows—soft, natural tones or bright hues are both in business from March to early summer. Choose either bright or warm for your color pallet—and stick with one or the other. You don’t ever want to combine warm and cool tones, but both pallets work for the spring months if you do it right!

Traditions/Spring Trends

Spring weddings should be filled with blooming spring floral arrangements—and there just can’t be enough of them. Babies breath, sunflowers, roses, tulips, peonies, and irises are just a few of our favorites! Adding fresh fruit—like bright lemons, oranges, or strawberries—to your table settings and floral arrangements is a new spring trend and a great way to spruce up a spring-themed wedding. If your venue is indoors, add fresh foliage from the ceiling to the floor to create an outdoor feel—remember, there can NEVER be too much greenery or flowers!

Summer Weddings

Summer Color Palettes

The best summer wedding color palettes range from bright floral-inspired hues to natural, classic tones. When choosing your wedding colors, stay bright and bold with classic blues, pale pinks, lilacs, marigolds and oranges. Remember—it’s summer—so think, sunshine! A warm summer color pallet will leave guests feeling happy and your special day will be paired with memories of laughter and joy.

Traditions and Summer Trends

Summer is the season for classic indoor wedding venues, outdoor bohemian vibes, or a seaside beach getaway. Some of our favorite summer wedding inspo is adding tropical flowers and palms to the decor. Think plants, plants, and more plants. Add cactuses in the corner or corals to your bouquet—we can’t get enough of the bold and bright summer wedding theme!
